Press Release Body = Orlando, FL February 15, 2007 - Polyvibe Records announces the national release of alGARhythm's new album "Reinventing the Orange." alGARhythm uses a palette of drum machines, sequencers, and lo-fi electronic equipment, creating a spectrum of digital illusions and analog brushstrokes. Gar's 'hand work'd n'tweaked', beat laden, knob-box fluctuating, infatuating, blood pumping palpitating sound is a blend of Rhythm, Melody, Audio Collage, and Ingenuity. The result is a sonic landscape of his world, the essence of community in all forms. "Reinventing the Orange" is electronic music at its purest.
The impressionable impressionist is Gar Bailey, an accomplished abstract painter and collagist. As Ian Monroe put it: "he seeds his musical compositions with the ethereal electromagnetic signals he plucks from his environment at the moment of their births, producing one-of-a-kind, unique pieces that blend the accidental and deliberate, musically, memetically, and multi-dimensionally." "Reinventing The Orange" is Gar's second audio release to date (South Pole On Fire was the first, in 2003). His shows are a painting in themselves; a collage of performance, sound, art, and community.
alGARhythm's street CD release party, held at Caffe DaVinci in Deland, FL, lead his Central Florida community with a full range of aural experiences that challenges what we know about music. On January 20, a ten act lineup of alGARhythm's favorite homeboys and audio artists joined the celebration, topping the night off with an all-star jelly jam explosion with all of the sonic sculptors at the helm. This event was an extraordinary show at a unique hometown venue.
